Global Head of Trade Marketing (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

Job purpose

To get craft consumers around the world drinking and loving our brands through incredible multi-channel customer marketing, insight development and brand execution. 

Essentials of the job

  • Own and lead exceptional trade marketing initiatives through the delivery of a set of core growth drivers (Retail Theatre, Liquid Mentorship, Word-of-Mouth & Compelling Campaigns).
  • Master the global marketing budget, report on performance, spend-to-date and activation learnings on a monthly basis.
  • Lead the annual marketing briefing cycle, ensuring that all sales teams and regional trade marketing managers are fully engaged in quarterly brand priorities.
  • Develop and embed a clear and engaging measurement and evaluation process, ensuring that all of our generated activities are effectively measured (pre and post activity) and evaluated on their return on investment (ROI).
  • Provide concise and consistent feedback to marketing teams on the effectiveness of campaigns and activities to ensure continuous improvement of our executions.
  • As a member of the global marketing leadership, annually collate and input into the global brand planning process to ensure that all global insights are captured and understood; be the voice of customer and trade marketing.
  • Drive our brand awareness through trade and consumer channels by deploying our global events team into key markets - always aim for best in show execution.
  • Own the high level customer marketing plan for each channel, with clear accountability set against the priority growth drivers.  Be smart and savvy in relation to focusing on the most impactful, results oriented outcomes.
  • Lead the development of a suite of globally available tools, to be utilised in multiple markets and channels.  Provide the framework for market trade marketing managers to execute them effectively.
  • Continually manage and evaluate the customer segmentation models to ensure brands route to consumer has maximum impact.
  • Use data, market and competitor analysis and category information to ensure that we become the craft category captains globally, become a guru in this area.

Experience, skills and qualifications 

Essential

  • Substantial experience of working within Trade and Customer Marketing across a majority of channels - and ideally within the spirits industry.
  • Category development experience with premium/craft spirits would be an advantage.
  • Strong commercial understanding and ability to drive sales through first class marketing execution.
  • A thorough understanding of the sales driver mix, specifically Pricing, Promotions, Visibility and Persuasion, and how to maximise their outputs.
  • Excellent ability to prioritise workloads and manage deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously, responsibly, and to collaborate with different people.
  • Strong sense of ownership.
  • Strong analytical and data mining skills.
  • Impeccable communication skills in English, both verbal and written.

Desirable

  • Industry experience in craft spirits. If you lack this, then a demonstrable appreciation of fine drinking. 
  • Interest in the on-trade, cocktails and mixology
  • Familiarity with the Google Suite of apps
  • Understanding of cultural differences across the globe and how this differs from the UK.
  • Language proficiency in one or more European languages other than English
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent - Marketing/Business degree preferred.
