Black Chalk is an exciting, award winning boutique producer of English Sparkling wine.  Black Chalk have achieved a raft of plaudits and awards since our launch in 2018, the creation of a new winery in time for the 2020 harvest and our own 12ha of vineyards since January 2020.  The vision is to build a quality driven range of products that showcase both the passion of the people involved and what is  possible on a boutique scale here in Hampshire.

 

The Events & Hospitality Coordinator will assist the General Manager in running the commercial/retail side of the business. The role will have a dual focus - to deliver events onsite and offsite and to help manage the hospitality areas within the vineyard. The hospitality part of the role will be focused on managing our new bar and tasting room. This is a multi-faceted position which will need experience and expertise in a number of different areas. First and foremost be a true ambassador for Black Chalk Wine. They will need to represent the brand in a positive and professional manner at all times.

 

THE ROLE:

 

Hospitality - 

 

•  
  • Delivering excellent customer service consistently
  • Leading a team of support staff to deliver the same high level of service and attention to detail.
  • Competence in all areas of a bar/restaurant setting due to small team size - a real ‘hands on’ role
  • Responsible for site security (opening/closing the business) when GM not onsite
  • Managing fluctuations in trading patterns - knowing how to deploy staff effectively and efficiently 
  • Assisting the GM in managing stock, ordering and other financial aspects of the business
  • Assisting the GM in managing the team and other HR support tasks
  • Ensuring the new bar and courtyard maintain excellent levels of cleanliness, presentation and Health and Safety compliance
  • Ensuring retail sales are maximised at all times through stock management and presentation 
  • Keen to develop knowledge in sparkling wine so to potentially assist in running wine tours

 

Events  - 

 

•  
  • Taking the lead in planning and executing a variety of different events, on and off-site 
  • Taking responsibility for costing and creating commercially viable events - the candidate will be evaluated on sales and profit targets attributed to such events. 
  • Ability to evaluate events performance and keep detailed sales performance records
  • Supporting the GM in delivering marketing strategies for both events and on-site hospitality 
  • Be pro-active in promoting events through social media and other marketing channels

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

 

•  
  • The role is full time but will involve a shift rota that will include some weekend work
  • Experience in a catering and hospitality is essential
  • Proven track record of planning and executing events is required
  • A knowledge and passion for both wine and the industry itself is desirable
  • Willing to offer support in all areas of the business when required (i.e. winery and vineyard)
  • Proficiency in IT - comfortable with Word/Excel 
  • Ability to contribute to Social Media communication   
  • Level 2 Food Safety - can be obtained in role
  • Level 2 Health and Safety - can obtained in role
  • WSET qualifications - desirable
