Vineyard Establishment Assistant Manager (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Vine-Works Ltd has established over 100 new vineyards in the UK and currently provide management and support services to over 60 sites. This is an exciting opportunity to join the management team at Vine-Works Ltd, helping oversee the establishment of vineyards from un-planted land through to trellised and ready for handover to the client and/or our vineyard management team.

This is a varied, interesting role that will find the right candidate both office- and field-based. One day may be meeting a prospective client, (smallholders, estates, existing growers/wineries) for the first time, the next compiling and writing reports, to helping manage the trellis teams to liaising with the vineyard management team.

Job Description

The ideal candidate must have the enthusiasm, ambition and attention to detail to provide the high level of service that both Vine-Works Ltd and our customers demand.

Sound viticultural knowledge and an understanding of the demands of grape growing in the UK are highly desired. The role will involve liaising and communicating with customers keeping them aware of developments in their project and with other members of the team, organising trellis teams and communicating with suppliers, (nurseries & material) to ensure projects are completed within determined timeframes, budgets and to the correct specification.

Duties

  • Generation of Viticultural Suitability reports, (soil sampling, compiling of soil and climatic analysis)
  • Presenting these reports to customers, dealing with the resulting queries and developing site specific action plans in readiness for a successful planting
  • Planning, layout (design) and estimation of new jobs
  • Liaise with customers, planning and managing the scheduling of our trellising work in a timely and efficient manner
  • Liaising with sales administration and logistics to ensure timely and accurate delivery of customer orders
  • Quality control of installations ensuring these are completed within timeframes provided
  • Prepare accurate information for budgeting and invoicing purposes

Qualifications & Skills

  • Viticultural/Horticultural degree or similar
  • Experience working and managing in a vineyard
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Strong business and commercial acumen and analytic capabilities
  • Mechanical aptitude 
  • Highly organised and ability to deliver against tight deadlines
  • Competent in MS Office software packages inc. Excel, accounting and project management software
