Vintage Winemaker
We are looking for a vintage winemaker for 2019. Defined Wine Ltd has been set up as a contract-only winery, with no vines or brands of its own and 2019 will be our first harvest.
We are looking for someone who is experienced, well organised and can build a team around them. They will report to the Head Winemaker and be responsible for all day-to-day winery operations and the cellar hands. Given the broad spectrum of our clients and their very different requirements, this is an exciting opportunity to be involved in making a wide range of still, sparkling and natural wines. There will be an opportunity to stay on after harvest.
Dates and hours
Dates: Three months from late August/early September
Hours: Forty hours per week plus, depending on the intensity of the harvest
Candidates must have:
- Proven experience as a Winemaker or Assistant Winemaker
- Good organisational and interpersonal skills and the ability to lead a team
- Competence in a broad range of winery operations
- Computer skills to manage winery records and winemaking administration
- Flexibility to work extended hours during peak harvest periods
- Eligibility to work in the UK
In addition, candidates should ideally have:
- A winemaking qualification
- Experience of working in a winery with contract clients
- A proficiency certificate for forklift operation
