The Estate Maintenance Operative will work closely with the management team and in-house vineyard teams to oversee all elements of Estate upkeep.

Estate Maintenance Operative and Vineyard Tractor Driver job description:

The right candidate must be a practical person who takes pride in their work. They need experience in the upkeep of outbuildings and fencing and be able to operate a variety of machinery, maintaining and servicing machinery/equipment.

A high degree of organisation and mechanical knowledge will be needed together with the ability to work unsupervised at times. The right candidate needs experience of working outdoors, in all weathers and be happy to work either as part of a team or individually.

The role demands that the successful candidate be flexible regarding working hours throughout busy periods, especially during the growing season (at times this will include weekend work). A can-do attitude and proactive mindset are also crucial. This is a full-time role with an immediate start.

Duties would include:

• Maintenance, upkeep, and service of mechanical equipment

• Upkeep of fencing, gates, and all out-buildings

• Management of hedgerows and boundaries

• Estate pest control

• Maintaining Estate signage

• Tractor operations e.g., spraying, mowing, under vine cultivating and trimming

• Oversight of all machinery Health & Safety practices and maintaining/recording these practices

• Flexibility essential especially during spraying and harvest periods

• Working throughout the Estates including sites in East Sussex and Kent

• Supporting sales and marketing team when necessary (for order preparation)

• Assist with viticultural work, in and around the vineyard sites

Preferred qualifications and skills include:

• Experience of farming, viticulture, or horticultural environments

• Must have at least 5 years tractor driving with PA1, PA2 and PA3 (essential) and ideally PA6 spray tickets

• Chainsaw ticket (preferred)

• Very good mechanical knowledge - essential

• A valid UK driving licence

• Full eligibility to work in the UK

• Organised and proactive

• Hard working with a “can do” attitude.

• Good communication skills and accuracy in record keeping

• Forklift user qualification (preferred but not essential)

• Towing license (essential)

• Salary range offered between £12.00 p/h - £14.00 p/h dependent upon relevant experience
