Harvest Cellar Hand for 2022 UK vintage (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Contract

  Ridgeview Wine Estate (http://www.ridgeview.co.uk/jobs/)

  Near Ditchling Common, Sussex, England

A unique opportunity for Vintage Cellar Hands to join Ridgeview, a multi award-winning English Sparkling Wine producer in Sussex. You’ll play a vital and vibrant role in our 2022 harvest and gain unrivalled experience at the cutting edge of sparkling winemaking in the UK.

ABOUT US

Ridgeview has been producing world-class sparkling wine for over 25 years. Considered pioneers of the English Sparkling Wine Industry, our state-of-the-art winery and established vineyards (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier) are based in the heart of the South Downs National Park, with breath-taking views of the surrounding area. We are proud to be certified by Wines GB as a sustainable vineyard and winery, and we invest in the latest, innovative equipment to minimise our impact on the natural world whilst crafting the highest quality sparkling wine around.  We are also proud winners of IWSC Winemaker of the Year award in 2018.

OUR CULTURE

Ridgeview is a family business built on a strong sense of teamwork. We believe in passion, a sense of purpose and a commitment to excellence. Ridgeview lives and breathes a family ethos, valuing all our staff as individuals, with a unique story and an important role to play. We are a vibrant and diverse team who make great things happen, together.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You’ll be working in a close-knit team, collaborating towards a common goal, and using your own laser sharp initiative. You’ll carry out racking and transfers, ferment inoculations and chaptalizing. There will be an exciting variety with the opportunity to experience three different styles of pressing (including Ridgeview’s Coquard PAI traditional press), working with one of the most experienced English sparkling winemakers in the country.

There will be fruit sources received from exceptional vineyards across the whole of Southern England and you’ll witness the entire harvest process as part of our small, skilled and supportive team. You’ll pull together with general cellar work, tank and equipment cleaning, assisting in maintaining winery cleanliness, and most importantly, celebrate success together.

ABOUT YOU

You thrive in a team environment, are eager to learn and develop and are excited to bring your own skills and experience to Ridgeview.

You will also ideally have the following experience:

  • Are confident and comfortable with the tasks outlined above
  • Have worked at least two harvests as a cellar hand
  • Experience in chemical sanitisation of tanks and equipment is an advantage
  • Be available for around four to eight weeks from mid to end of September (actual dates to be confirmed nearer the time as will be dependent on grapes ripening)
  • Flexibility with additional hours required depending on harvest
  • Your own right to work in the UK
  •  Lab experience in a winery is an advantage
  • Are able to work 8–12 hour shifts, 6 days per week dependent on the harvest
