Laboratory assistant (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Defined Wine Ltd is looking for a new laboratory assistant. Defined Wine Ltd is a contract-only winery based outside Canterbury (CT4 5HL). With no vineyards or brands of its own, it solely provides contract services for others. It has started to build laboratory services as a client offering and is looking to recruit a new laboratory assistant to run its internal and external lab analysis.

The laboratory assistant will work as part of the winery team. The job will include:    

 SO2 by aspiration/titration

·       Enzymatic spectrophotometer work

·       Wet chemistry sampling (pH and TA) as well as OenoFoss

·       Equipment calibration

·       Grape maturity processing

·       Filterability testing

·       Heat stability testing

·       Cold stability testing

·       Pressure testing

·       Portable density measurement

·       Sample preparation

·       Setting up trials and tastings

·       Microbiology analysis


 Candidates must have:

-  Previous laboratory experience

-  Excellent attention to detail 

-  Data entry and computer literacy (including knowledge of MS Office); numerical literacy 

-  Ability to work at heights (to collect samples from tanks and barrels)

-  Eligibility to work in the UK

In addition, candidates should ideally have:

-  Winemaking knowledge or interest

-  Microbiology experience

Hours

-  Flexible hours, usually around 20 hours per week, depending on demand; up to 40 hours per week during harvest period of September/October

 

Competitive hourly rate, reflective of previous experience
