Blending Technician (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

We have an exciting opportunity available for two Blending Technicians to join our team based in Irlam, Manchester. These are both full time permanent roles, working 40 hours per week, Monday- Friday on a two shift rotation (6am-2pm/ 2pm-10pm)

In return you will receive a competetive salary of up to £33,000 dependent on experience.

The Blending Technician Role:

These new roles have been developed to ensure the timely supply of liquids to the Production department, to meet the bottling program. The Blending Technicians will be responsible for ensuring all products are received and processed in accordance with quality specifications using the most efficient and cost-effective methods.

The Blending Technicians will contribute to the ongoing operational and strategic objectives for the department by the identification, assessment, and recommendation of continuous improvements in the process area.

Key responsibilities as our Blending Technician will include:

  • To blend, store, and process finished liquids in accordance with recipe and specification requirements
  • To ensure product meets the highest possible quality standards (including gas management) complies with all Customs & Excise and Trading standards requirements, and meets customer expectation
  • To analyse in-process products both chemically, and organoleptically
  • To ensure that only ingredients with correct C of C and / or C of A are used
  • To ensure that only ingredients within shelf-life are used
  • To ensure Ingredients are in fit condition when used
  • Are responsible for calculating bulk additions to products and blends
  • To minimise material and liquid waste in line with budgeted targets
  • To ensure that bulk liquids meet all relevant technical specifications and resolve any problems that may arise when these specifications are not met          
  • To ensure all documentation and record systems are maintained to high standards on a daily basis in accordance with ISO 9001:2015.
  • To ensure the purchase and stock control of blending ingredients and material are in line with agreed specifications and prices
  • To maintain a high degree of both product and personal safety in accordance with HSE, EHO and HMCE requirements
  • Implement and audit risk assessment controls and HACCP
  • To maintain hygiene/housekeeping standards in accordance with the requirements of a food manufacturing environment
  • To liaise closely with Planning, Processing, Technical and Production departments
  • To recommend, support, and introduce improvement initiatives
  • When applicable, take part in customer and third-party external audits on site 

Skills required as our Blending Technician:

  • Three years Blending experience within a food manufacturing process environment
  • Experience of modern manufacturing techniques and the implementation of systems and procedures for improved performance
  • City & Guilds or any other higher-level qualification in Process Technology or similar (Food & Drink Operations for example)
  • FLT license would be an advantage
  • Excellent IT skills including hands on understanding of SAP would be an advantage 
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
