Buyer – Wine (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

Quest Search & Selection are partnering with this omni-channel specialist FMCG retailer. The company are an expert within their field and have been operating for 50 years in the UK and internationally.

This role sits within their beverage division and will look after their Wine category. In this position you will be involved in the selection, negotiation, pricing, and manage the commercial relationships with suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

• You will be responsible for the commercial performance of the category and with developing their ranges and value-added products.
• Own and develop ranges that reflect the company’s market position.
• Ensure that buying decisions are customer-focused, and product selection is undertaken with appropriate consideration
• Competitor & price analysis
• Responsible for cost price, contribution and all other negotiations with suppliers for your products.
• Ensure that any new suppliers conform to our expected Quality & Environmental standards and practices.
• Manage the promotional activity of the category and working closely with the trade planning team
• Manage gross margin and budgetary responsibility
• UK & international travel for sourcing trips

To be successful in this Buyer position you must –

• Have extensive Buyer experience within a retail or wholesale business
• You must have had big grocer experience from a high-street retailer, supermarket or wholesaler
• Commercially focused/strong negotiating skills
• The ideal candidate must be highly experienced within the wine category (this can include new, old world wine, dessert, fortified or sparkling ) This experience can be past or current.
• Good negotiation and supplier management skills are needed.
• Be able to work under pressure in a faced paced environment
