Spirits Buyer (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

Role Purpose

Working alongside the Head of Spirits on the development and delivery of a multi-channel spirits strategy that optimizes ongoing growth, profitability, whilst building awareness of F+R as a leading marketplace for the world’s most sought-after spirits.    

The Spirits buyer will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the F+R spirits sales agenda, through buying, prospecting, and commercializing strong business relationships with targeted suppliers.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Increase revenue and profit growth as well the number of active spirits buyers and the scale of spirits offers in line with company growth targets.
  • Continuously review past product sales performance and ensure there is a strategy in place to exceed like for like sales.
  • Write compelling and accurate sales offers that in turn lead to sales conversion and maximize the full potential of customer lifetime values.
  • Provide valuations of spirits for clients when required.
  • To support with the development of a sales strategy for F+R exclusive products including Bloomsbury Atelier and exclusive cask sales.
  • Manage and maximize existing and new secondary suppliers in Europe and support development of secondary suppliers in Asia.
  • Continuously review the existing supplier list and prospect for new supplier relationships to ensure they continuously meet the current and future company needs and required service levels.
  • Work collaboratively on key initiatives with departments across the business such as Sales, Digital & Brand and assist the logistics team in resolving supplier issues, when required
  • Carefully monitor the spirits stock list to ensure stock levels are minimized and where necessary create and implement creative sales angles to sell slow moving lines.
  • Manage the administration of product offers, ensuring offers are set up and closed with the suppliers and POs are received and product lists are carefully, ensuring its accuracy to maximize digital capabilities.

Person Specification 

  • Extensive experience in the luxury and rare spirits industry with strong product knowledge
  • Expert in understanding and targeting and opportunity management with the ability to implement both strategic and tactical initiatives
  • Demonstrable experience in sourcing, building, developing, and maintaining supplier relationships.
  • Excellent writing skills, with the ability to write creatively about rare products and educate the sales team
  • Experience in a commercial management role, and delivery of consistent and strong performance
  • Strong business and strategic acumen
  • Demonstrable evidence of strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Good numerical skills set to interpret data and make commercial decisions
  • Pro-active, self-starter who uses their own initiative
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills
