Off The Line is an innovative award-winning boutique producer of English wines with a distinct ethos based in East Sussex.  Off The Line has a focus on still rosé wines and has its own purpose-built winery which has been processing grapes since 2018 from its first planting of 3ha of vines.  The vision is to build on the current achievements of the business by expanding production with further plantings of vines and expanding the winery and visitor facilities.

The Vineyard and Winery Assistant will work full-time under the supervision of the Head Winemaker and they will be involved primarily with vineyard work and assist in the winery when needed. The successful candidate will work very closely with the Founders to ensure that the highest standards are achieved in all aspects of vineyard and winery operations. 

The position will also include some work in sales (tours) and marketing providing involvement in all operations from grape growing to hand selling bottles of wine.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop skills within a small team and to become a key person working at Off The Line. You should have experience and/or a qualification in viticulture/wine production, tractor driving skills and, preferably have PA1 and PA3.

THE ROLE/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Vineyard operations including but not limited to; winter pruning, pulling out, tying down, maintaining trellising, wire lifting/dropping, shoot thinning, summer canopy management and harvest operations. 
  • Tractor operations including but not limited to; spraying, mowing, vine trimming, leaf removal, and   under-vine weed control.
  • Tractor and equipment maintenance. 
  • Disease monitoring.
  • Keep accurate written records as required.
  • Comply with heath and safety policies at all times.

  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work extended hours during harvest and busy periods including weekends. 
  • Work as part of a team and on your own.
  • Computer literate.
  • As this is a physically demanding role you need to be physically fit, robust and resilient to working in all weathers.

 

WINERY: 

  • Ability to assist in the winery during harvest.
  • Ability to assist at other times including at bottling. 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Full right to work in the UK.
  • Excellent (English) verbal and written communication skills.
  • An understanding of the importance of diversity and inclusion practices in the workplace and in all aspects of business.
  • Valid driver’s license and own transport.
  • Ability to lift up to 15Kgs regularly and, occasionally, 25 kg.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Salary negotiable dependent on experience
