The Tasting Room Assistant will primarily be responsible for running Swanaford’s vineyard tour and tasting experiences. This will involve talking about how we grow grapes in Devon, the wine-making process and how we make wine. Prior vineyard or wine-tasting experience would be an advantage, but is not essential, training will be provided. However, a successful candidate needs to be confident in providing an entertaining and engaging experience for the paying guests to the vineyard. Other responsibilities will include sales from our cellar door, managing tour bookings and online wine sales, wine deliveries, helping in the vineyard when necessary and assisting with ground maintenance on the estate (mowing). Working hours will be set at 30 per week, and will include one day a weekend and the occasional evening.
Tasks will include (but may not be limited to):
· Leading pre-booked tours and tastings around the vineyard
· Managing the cellar door experience – daily wine sales, managing stock levels, taking tour bookings and replying to sales enquires
· Working behind the bar at food events held at the vineyard.
· Promotion and sales of our wines, acting as an ambassador for Swanaford.
· Assisting the vineyard manager with vineyard tasks
· Labelling, packaging and delivering wine.
· Helping in the winery which could include disgorging, bottling or general cleaning.
· Helping to maintain the public spaces.
