Job Summary
 As part of the store team, you will be delivering exceptional standards and excellent customer service working within the wine and spirit area to share knowledge of the ranges and products from within. You will communicate and demonstrate to our customers and colleagues the best practice in, product pairings / recommendations, along with the key attributes of the products you are displaying. 
 
You should be a confident, self-motivated individual who thrives on delivering exceptional customer service and delivering sales targets. Working in a team or lone working.
 
You should be able to be visibly enthused whilst being able to impress with your knowledge of wines and spirits, being able to show a greater depth of knowledge on key wines, spirits and suppliers; as identified by yourself and line manager. 

You will be confident describing the taste, texture and aroma of the grape varieties used within the wine. You will have the ability to be able to confidently communicate the traceability of the product, heritage and supplier background on locally sourced wine and spirit. Communicate the point of difference over similar products within the store, in essence what makes that product special.

You will need to work with your line manager to agree fortnightly products that will be showcased to the team and customers. 

You will need to take accountability for your own training in line with what the Society offers. Making sure you work in partnership with local suppliers to visit them within their location, whilst acting with a degree of initiative in you day to day approach. Understanding the processes that have brought the products to the store. To take an active interest in competition activity to ensure to you maintain an active leading edge.

However, occasionally situations may arise that require the post holder to perform other duties or tasks as may be reasonably requested by the Society.
Key Responsibilities
  • To take pride in developing ongoing customer relationships so that the customers and colleagues understand you are the expert in the area of wine and spirit so the store becomes a “go to place”.
  • To work in partnership with other food connoisseurs, within your store to complement other products that can potentially benefit your own and their product sales targets. 
  • Awareness of current food trends and taking accountability for researching     products when visiting key suppliers, detailing and recording information used to educate the team and themselves on the products. 
  • Takes accountability for maintaining high levels of food safety and personal level of hygiene, in accordance with Society Policy. 
  • Self-motivation to research product following customer feedback, being able to share ideas that fit within season and the products available and feed this back to your line manager. 
  • Has exceptional communication and interaction skills, being able to talk to and liaise with members and colleagues with the ability to share knowledge of the range stocked with the display. To be visibly enthused by the product they offer. 
  • Delivery of product sales targets through engagement. 
  • Demonstrate flexibility in working hours and days to suit the needs of the business with store visits and member events. 
  • Support and encourage colleague involvement in local events (as agreed with the Store Manager) so that the store is a focal point of the local community, promote Co-operative membership.
  • Take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work. 
  • Adhere to all operational policies and procedures.
  • Awareness of the Society Steering Wheel and how their actions can influence it.
  • Computer literate. 
  • In addition, all employees are expected to work within the terms of their contract of employment and adhere to Society policies and procedures.
