Bolney Wine Estate is offering an exciting opportunity for an experience winemaker to manage and evolve our wine production, plus our other alcoholic drinks. To be part of our dynamic and growing family business, making red, white and rose still wines, plus a range of sparkling wines. Also, a Gin and Vermouth.
JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Senior Winemaker and Production Manager
LOCATION: Bolney Wine Estate, Foxhole Lane, West Sussex, RH17 5NB

REPORTS TO: Managing Director
ABOUT YOU:
· We are looking someone with passion for still and sparkling wine making.
· Someone who is always wanting to improve.
· You are innovative and think out of the box.
DUTIES TO INCLUDE:
· To make excellent wines and continue raise the quality bar.
· Hands on winemaking.
· Liaise regularly and work with the Vineyard Manager.
· New Product Development, in coordination with the MD.
· Taking part in PR activities and talking with customers.
· Production forecasting and planning in co-ordination with the other relevant teams.
· Manage all winery operations from harvest to bottling.
· Management of bottling operations using an external bottling line.
· Handling all additional grape purchasing
· Client liaison from pre-fruit receival through packaging to invoicing.
· Liaison with marketing on product information and social media content
· Exhibiting at sales shows and tastings, where necessary
· Regularly review and update SOPs
· Audit control (SALSA & SWGB) w/ Compliance Manager
· H&S control in winery and packaging area
· Responsible for production declaration and quality wine scheme applications and ensuring labels meet legal requirements.
· Management and supervision of staff and operational practice – winery, disgorging and labelling.
· Recruitment of new production staff, including harvest labour.
· Responsible for winery and packaging equipment RRM and for sourcing and procurement of new winery equipment
EXPERIENCE:
· Winemaking experience producing still wines and sparkling wines – from harvest to bottle.
· Experience developing packaging materials (labels, foils, screwcaps)
· Experience running disgorging and labelling lines.
· Experience managing a production team.
· Forklift experience
· Tertiary qualification in wine production
Driver’s License essential due to location
Job Type:
· 40 hours per week including weekends and evenings at harvest.
