Liv-ex (The London International Vintners Exchange) operates the global marketplace for fine wine. We provide data, trading and settlement services to the majority of merchants in this field worldwide. As award winners in 2016 and 2017, our products are already achieving industry acclaim. With increased investment planned by Liv-ex in the coming years, an exciting vacancy has arisen in our Data team for an Ecommerce Analyst.

Summary Purpose

Liv-ex is moving its customer facing website and API services to a new Amazon Web Service (AWS) environment. This will give us the opportunity to greatly improve the customer experience using the tools available from AWS. We’re looking for an enthusiastic candidate who wishes to pursue a career in data and ecommerce, ideally someone who seeks to specialise in using AWS tools. The successful candidate will be an important member of a small data team, working alongside colleagues on the marketing desk and product development team. The role combines regular activities and ad-hoc projects as listed below. This role will also provide the opportunity to develop skills in a number of areas including customer analysis, website analysis, a/b testing and product development. There will also be the opportunity to build knowledge of fine wine and how the wine market works.

Role Responsibilities

  • Consult with internal business users/stakeholders in the Product Management team to develop analyses that lead to actionable insights that accelerate profitable growth

  • Perform comprehensive analysis on our ecommerce activity including via the website and APIs

  • Comprehend, extract, and massage necessary information from clickstream and other log data for ad-hoc and reporting/dashboards needs

  • Analyse customer behaviour on the site, ranging from pathing, funnel analysis to product interaction, to identify pain points within the online experience and then share results

  • Ensure data quality by testing tracking on site so metrics are properly captured and reported correctly

  • Perform A/B testing to consult with stakeholders, set-up test and report out on findings to make educated and calculated changes to the website in a low-risk manner

  • Designing and building reports, dashboards, and analyses in Excel, Qlik and AWS tools

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • BA/BSc with strong academic record, ideally in Economics or from a quantitative social science background, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics etc

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (e.g. experience with pivot tables), SQL, R or similar
  • A keen interest and a fascination for the fine wine market with strong commercial flair

  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work in a constantly evolving environment with minimal guidance
  • Driven and hard-working with an informal work manner
  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills

  • Analytical, creative, and innovative approach to solving problems

  • A passion for overcoming complex challenges with simple solutions

  • Be comfortable pushing back and challenging the status quo at all levels within the business
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Fluent in English, both technical and conversational

 

Desirable

  • Familiarity with analytics tools on Amazon Web Services
  • Other qualifications related to wine or data
