The Role

We are offering this exciting opportunity to join the team at leading independent food & drink brand, Macknade at our all day dining and drinking experience in Ashford.

Best known for its flagship food hall in Faversham, Macknade has been at the heart of the food & drink scene in the UK for over 170 years, creating spaces where people & communities can come together over a shared love of food & drink. 

The principal responsibility will be to support the General Manager and Retail Manager in all aspects of the day-to-day operation of a successful food business as detailed below. There will also be a requirement to help in other areas across the Macknade Group as necessary;

Roles and Responsibilities

·        Develop and improve our customer service, ensuring that our customers receive our full attention and that nothing is too much trouble

·        Identifying and implementing opportunities to increase revenue, reduce costs and implement efficiencies

·        Manage orders and stock levels (Incl. imports), reduce wastage, manage margins and pricing, improve profitability by enhanced efficiency

·        Develop relationships with producers and suppliers (incl Imports)

·        To lead on the presentation of the department.

·        Take a genuine interest in the products we serve and sell within the store, learning every day and sharing this knowledge with team members & customers

·        Provide energetic and inspiring leadership ensuring that all staff have clear line management, responsibilities, and accountability

·        Assist the General Manager with weekly rotas, holidays and sickness in line with budget.  

·        Actively participate in events including tastings and presentations

·        Actively participate in our monthly & quarterly stock takes and inventory control.

·        Accurately process customer purchases at point of sale

·        Contribute in all team meetings and training courses

·        Maintain high energy levels and carry out all duties productively

·        Ensure all Health and Safety guidelines are followed and that all the appropriate PPE clothing and equipment is provided, worn and used when required.

Ability to lead a team to deliver outstanding customer service at every touchpoint 

Highly effective organisational skills with the ability to successfully develop and work within a positive and inclusive culture 

A clear passion to build on the Macknade reputation for offering high quality, value for money and an outstanding experience. 

Detailed knowledge of high quality food and drink 

Evidence of continuing education and training 

 

Hours of work will vary with the job depending on where the emphasis of the role is on each day. 

Holiday is pro rata with a full-time rate of 28 days.
