WINE WAITER / SOMMELIER for an organic/natural Wine Bar.
Lady of the Grapes is looking for a sommelier / wine waiter/ess.
The wine bar / restaurant is located in the heart of Covent Garden.
We are serving good quality, season ingredients, classical and modern french cuisine alongside delicious natural, biodynamic and organic wines made by female winemakers. We have about 250 different wines and the wine list is increasing constantly.
Lady of the Grapes is supporting and showcasing female winemakers as well as a better viticulture.
The successful candidate will be a natural wine lover, a foodie, have personality, energy, good communication skills.
We are looking for someone willing to accompany the business’ long-term development and keen to grow with the company.
Responsibilities
- Welcomes customers, sit them with acknowledgement of bookings and time.
- Introduces customers to the menu and announce concept or the restaurant.
- Wine List: Demonstrating exceptional knowledge of our wine list and give the best recommendations to our guests.
- Recommend wines that complement guests taste and food choice.
- Takes customers' orders: for food and drinks.
- Serve customers: Collects food orders verify that they are correct, well presented and serves them to customers in with the best manners.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through promoting excellent service. Be sure they are satisfied and processes orders for additional courses/drink if necessary.
- Prepares cheques, deliver them to customers and take payment.
- Be sure tables are set and ready for the next costumers on time.
- Maintain familiarity with menu items: New wines (by glass or bottles), menu changes.
- Wine stock level: do stock taking weekly with the team, check and organise fridges, cellar and shelves. Communicate any low stock.
- Hygiene: Be sure the hygiene standards are reach all the time.
- Be a team player.
Required Experience and Skills
- Experience as a waiter/ess / sommelier.
- Be passionate about wine and food.
- Be a natural wine lovers.
- Minimum WSET level 2 is required.
- Calm under pressure.
- Be able to smooth service when busy.
- Self-motivated with a positive “can do” attitude to all tasks
- Have a good customer service skills.
- Knowledge and passion for french food, cheese and charcuterie is a plus.
- Good oral communication skills.
- Be punctual and reliable.
- Need to be able to work 5 days per week including evening and weekend.
- MUST have the right to work in the UK.
