Production Planner (Wine Jobs: Management & Administration)

Job description An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Planning Associate to join our Quintessential Brands family, a diverse, driven and dynamic company that holds a rich and prestigious production heritage within the spirits industry. G&J Distillers is a part of the QB collective which has been distilling and bottling the highest quality gins and vodkas since 1761 in Warrington. To this day, we continue to produce products of the highest quality for customers around the world. 

As Planning Associate, you will implement effective planning procedures, both tactically and strategically to improve the Operations Department’s performance through operative use of resources. To optimise product availability and service levels, managing inventory levels and providing optimised production plans on both a short term and long term. 

We are looking for a motivated individual who is confident in their capabilities and holds a practical approach towards their work; a hardworking team player with a proactive attitude.

Responsibilities - Schedule production to meet OTIF/OFR KPI’s in conjunction with TACT and Changeover % (Operation’s KPI’s) 

- To plan and schedule workflow for each department and operation as per the previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times 

- Analysis of spirit/raw materials requirements to meet the production plan by use of MRP 

- Calling of materials from suppliers in line with agreed lead times and ordering relevant raw materials in a timely manner to ensure production can achieve the production plan 

- Monitoring stock levels to ensure accurate production scheduling on a daily basis 

- Liaise proactively with relevant personnel to communicate shortages and advise availability dates 

- Identify and report risks to plan delivery, optimising the plan across departments to prevent delays, minimise waste and reduce costs 

- Support on Company stock check activities 

- Preparation of production reports and maintenance of dashboards 

- Develop a continuous improvement culture by proactively seeking and using feedback internally and externally to develop relationships and improve business performance 

- Participate in new product launch process and coordinate the planning process with cross functional partners; ensure bulk supply to meet launch dates 

- Comply with all Company procedures, including Hygiene Policy, Quality Standards, Health and Safety Procedures and ISO 9002 

- Achievement of any Key Performance Measures identified 

- To take on additional duties within the Operations function as required

Skills required It is imperative that the applicant has manufacturing experience, specifically Production and Materials planning experience within the manufacturing industry. It would be strongly desirable that the candidate has a clear understanding of spirit production processes, however, training will be given. 

Additional skills: 

- Capability to run MRP 

- Capable of competently operating Microsoft office software with an advanced knowledge of Excel and Project Plan 

- Proactive, numerate and analytical with an eye for detail 

- Ability to work to high standards 

- Ability to work well with others 

- Excellent Communications skills – the ability to liaise with all departments 

- Must be flexible ad used to working in a fast-paced environment

Educational requirements Although a Degree or relevant qualifications is desirable it is not essential however, planning experience is critical. Business acumen is highly sought after for this role as it is the knowledge the candidate attains from first-hand experience that we are looking for.
