Individual Purpose:
• The principle of the role is to guide the business by providing detailed and accurate analyses, both qualitative and quantitative. These analyses will predominantly financial with a requirement to express findings clearly and concisely providing recommendations.
Responsibilities:
• Preparation and interpretation of existing data for use in presentations, board reports and commercial meetings. To compare these to external data where appropriate in order to draw conclusions and provide recommendations.
• Bespoke and ad-hoc analyses and models to identify commercial opportunities for our operational teams. Recent examples have included a viability model to assess new retail premises or a tool to help shop managers cost their staff rotas.
• To prepare and review investment proposals with reference to our business ethos and typicalfinancial assessment techniques.
• To lead and manage standalone projects of a financial or analytical nature.
Knowledge & Experience
• Numerate with financial and analytical ability. Some interpretation of management accounts will be required.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem solving skills.
• Strong Excel skills and the ability to think laterally when working with large data.
• Wherewithal to act on one’s own initiative, particularly when approaching analytical tasks. A willingness to take responsibility for the evolution and completion of projects.
• Excellent organisational and presentational skills; the ability to produce analyses that can be easily interpreted by others or documents at a standard suitable for senior managers to review.
• Commitment to deadlines with a demonstrated ability to prioritise.
• Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the business.
• Background in accounting essential.
• Ability to adapt to and learn new systems.
