Position Description
From using customer insights to develop and invigorate the category to reviewing the sourcing strategy, as a Buyer at our Whittlesey site you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of the business unit category plan. Key Responsibilities include:
• Reviewing the sourcing strategy to provide both new and improved packaging and hardware for products within the category scope to exceed the expectations of our customers, whilst driving cost out of existing products / vendors / supply chains
• Developing the packaging & hardware procurement plan, which is based on an understanding of market conditions, in conjunction with the buyers & Technical Manager to deliver the required margin, quality and availability
• Maintaining an awareness and knowledge of industry developments on packaging & hardware, keeping the business at the forefront of the industry
• Supporting delivery of the packaging procurement Plan / KPI targets for GBI, and packaging waste
• Managing the process for effective management of packaging raw material, regularly discussing potential wastage with internal stakeholders & suppliers in order to ensure the company maintains budgetary controls and minimal waste
• Working closely with internal planning teams to agree weekly collaborative plans and ensure the delivery of service level targets
• Carrying out placement of orders and PO using internal IT systems
• Communicating with suppliers, and other elements of the supply chain, to enable them to deliver effectively
• Supporting the control of stock in conjunction with the planner, liaising with internal and external operations teams to deliver lowest cost supply route to market
• Ensuring administrative processes whilst buying satisfy GSCOP processes and recording requirements for price confirmation including accurate filing on company server
• Conducting effective visits to source pre / post season to review / plan key elements for coming / end of season`s
Required Experience
• Previous experience working in a microbiology or chemistry environment
• A level standard in a scientific subject
• Practical understanding of microbiological and chemical analytical methods
• Attention to detail
• Flexible approach in respect to shift patterns
• Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
Desirable Skills and Experience:
• HNC/HND
• WSET award in wine and spirit minimum level 2
• Have a good understanding of wet chemistry and analytical techniques
• Have trouble shooting experience of analytical methods and equipment
