An English Sparkling wine estate based in West Sussex, is seeking a full time vineyard manager to work closely with both the general manager and sub-contracted vineyard team to ensure healthy vines and a high quality crop. The estate itself is growing fast and currently consists of 3 sites within 10 miles of one other, amounting to 50 acres of planted land.  The job role is all encompassing and offers a blank canvas at the start of an exciting project.

Vineyard Manager Job Description:

The right candidate must possess the experience and ambition to continually elevate and develop the fruit quality of our estate vineyards. A practical and thorough understanding of viticultural practices is a must, as is a proven track record of achieving crops of uncompromised quality. We have been working with an outstanding vineyard management company and are now ready to transition to in house management. The vineyard manager will be working with the owners and general manager in the continual evolution of best farming practices in a challenging and dynamic growing environment. They will assume oversight of all vineyard operations including daily farming activities and additional vineyard development, budget management, compliance and reporting, labour management and property maintenance.

The role demands that the successful candidate will need to adopt flexibility in working hours especially in busy periods.

 

Additional Preferred Requirements:

• Applicants would benefit from having a Bachelor’s of Science in Viticulture or related field

• Minimum 3 years’ practical experience

• Solid computer and organizational skills

• Full drivers’ license & spraying license

• A heavy goods transportation license is preferred but not essential

 

Compensation & Benefits:

• Open to negotiation dependent upon relevant experience
