The Packaging Operators role is to run the day to day operations of the bottling and kegging lines. Working with state of the art machinery, operators are required to package quality beers with the care required to maintain them in the optimum condition in which they were brewed.
Previous experience and a love of craft beer desirable but not a prerequisite. Full training will be provided.
This role suits a hardworking, autonomous individual keen to learn, make decisions and work within a team to deliver the weekly packaging plan in an efficient.
Willingness to work unsocial hours (early/late/night shifts) and weekends as needed
Key responsibilities:
• Prepare the bottling and kegging lines for production at the start of each shift
• Maintain sterile filters through adequate cleaning and monitoring
• Run all machines throughout shifts, with rotation of work stations
• Change-over machines between product sizes and pack types
• End of shift shut-down, CIP and sterilisation of both bottle and keg packaging lines
• Co-ordinate with the team to keep lines running through breaks as required
• Complete all appropriate production documentation and sampling
• Basic maintenance of the packaging equipment
• Bulk beer storage and transfer, including the correct handling of lines and sanitation of hoses & fittings
• Follow SOP (standard operating procedures) to the satisfaction of the Packaging Manager & QA Manager.
• Ensure all production areas are well maintained and cleaned to the highest hygienic standards.
• Ensure that packaging is of highest quality standards in terms of both quality and appearance, including meeting the commercial standards set out by the Packaging Manager and QA manager
• Ensuring the output of the bottling line and kegger is consistent with weekly planning
• In conjunction with the Packaging Manager, continue to reduce beer and material losses, while improving line efficiencies
• Liaise with warehouse staff about stock coming off the packaging lines and organising the storage of packaging materials
• Maintain a high level of Health and Safety at all times
