  • Target a range of exclusive wine suppliers and branded product.
  • Consolidate all buying power to as few suppliers as possible and as many exclusive suppliers as possible.
  • Capture and maintain the strengths of the wider Buying & Technical team.
  • Buy competitively in every channel.
  • Buy competitively in every part of the supply chain, including freight and bottling to get the best quality and most cost effective product on your shelves

The Group Wine Team touches all parts of the business relating to wine. This Wine Analyst role will be a cross functional position reviewing data from multiple platforms in order to analyse and create meaningful actions. This is an exciting role for a commercially astute proactive and challenging individual.

Core Capabilities

  • Provide the tools to further enhance the information based decisions of the Wine Strategy team
  • Work within the Group Wine team to help shape the data & team on given projects; understand the requirements, efficiently make recommendations and deliver these to our customers within the business
  • Create the structure of data dashboards, and verify their integrity
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure that business data is accurate, clean, correct and usable.
  • Maintain and review current reports for suppliers, customers and stock
  • Present solutions at varying stages throughout each project as well as the final installation
  • Teach, guide and empower team members to create valuable dashboard representations
  • Be an active contributor to cross-functional projects.
  • To build and maintain a database of our key wine competitors
  • Working with the Wine Team and Sales Teams to pro-actively target competitors through a detailed understand in of the market and ranges.

REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL:

  • Strong experience working with data either as an analyst, data manager or equivalent
  • Experience with building reports, implementing quality control checks and processes
  • Experience presenting conclusions in a compelling and effective manner

PREFERRED:

  • Experience working with BI software such as Microsoft Power BI
  • Knowledge of business and technology with a working understanding of data warehousing and data structures
  • A strong understanding of the wine market and the key players
  • Educated to degree level (preferably in a numerical/logical field)
  • WSET Level 3 or above

Technical/behaviour

  • Advanced analysis skills (Excel essential, other programs desired)
  • Highly numerate with strong financial acuity (Accountancy qualifications desired but not essential)
  • Effective communicator, in explaining work, teaching skills and presenting findings to colleagues, customers and suppliers
  • Strong time management skills including delivering projects to tight deadlines
  • Hands-on experience with data and business requirement gathering and analysis
  • Calm and pragmatic approach to business problem solving
  • A solid understanding of and interest in data and its impact on profitable decision-making
  • A strong interest in a future in Business Intelligence, Data & Analytics
  • An ability and interest in managing cross-functional projects
  • A working understanding of relational databases
