Credit Manager (Wine Jobs: Management & Administration)

An opportunity has arisen for a Credit Manager to join our growing Finance team. Reporting to the Head of Finance you will be fully responsible for overseeing management of all aspects of credit control in the UK and Ireland, minimising bad debt financial exposure and maximising business profitability. 
Working in a fast-paced environment, this role will ideally suit an experienced credit manager with significant supervisory experience and the ability to manage and motivate a team to effectively meet collection targets. 

Key responsibilities:
- Management and development of two credit controllers;
- Responsible for the day to day running of the function including:
       - chasing overdue debts by phone, letter and email;
       - monitoring of credit risk/bad debts;
       - processing of daily banking and direct debits;
       - debtor reconciliations and queries.
- Liaise with Sales and Customer Services to ensure customer relationships are effectively managed;
- Act as a point of contact for escalation of queries/issues;
- Management of new account process, including reviewing references, credit checking and agreeing credit limits and payment terms;
- Managing on stop/legal processes and ensure that issues are communicated appropriately and actions are documented;
- Regular debtor reporting and commentary for senior management;
- Continual review and improvement of credit control processes and procedures.

Skills and experience:
- A track record managing and motivating a team;
- At least 3 – 4 years’ credit control experience; wine industry knowledge beneficial;
- Ideally degree or ICM qualified;
- Strong IT skills including Excel; MS NAV an advantage;
- Good commercial awareness and sound decision making;
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise;
- Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships, both throughout the business and with customers.

Wine knowledge is not essential but a willingness to learn is.

Salary and Benefits:
Salary range will be dependent on experience with the following:
- Personal Bonus of up to 5% of basic salary based on performance against key objectives;
- Participation in discretionary Company bonus scheme;
- 22 days’ holiday rising to 25 days;
