Berkmann Wine Cellars is one of the UK’s leading independent wine distributors. From our UK depots, we offer a national service with a local touch, reaching all sectors of the On and Off Trade, supplying them with wines of outstanding quality and character. To meet with our strategic expansion plans, we are now looking for a Brand Manager to join the team at our head office, based in Islington.

You will be reporting into the Marketing Manager and looking after our Australian, Californian and New Zealand portfolio, which consists of around 15 exciting, boutique brands. You will be responsible for managing all A&P and volume budgets and have full strategic responsibility for your brands.
Key responsibilities:
· To deliver brand plan objectives by driving sales results for key agency brands
· Looking after your portfolio of new world wine brands. You will manage budgets, and have full strategic responsibility for these brands
· To develop brand plans which are easily implementable across all business divisions
· Ensure that all plans are based on relevant consumer insight, shopper behaviour and attitudes, market place dynamics and a detailed understanding of competitors
· To ensure that each brand has a clear and compelling brand positioning, working closely with brand owners
· To develop and implement pertinent communication strategies
· To actively ensure that mechanisms are in places to align channel strategies with brands strategies, and that key brand messages are effectively delivered to the consumer
· To champion and articulate Berkmann Wine Cellars internally and externally, whilst continuously challenging the way we do business to increase Sales and Gross profit
Essential requirements:
· Experience of working within the UK On/Off Trade drinks industry essential, preferably from a wine background
· Brand Manager/Assistant Brand Manager experience is necessary, with a demonstrated ability to work in line with budgets, interpret a profit and loss sheet and assimilate data quickly
· Sales experience, and an in-depth understanding of FMCG industry and luxury brands
· Experience of working with brand owners and strategic brand development
· Practical knowledge and ability to use and interpret Market data (e.g. AC Nielsen data and TGI)
· A hands-on approach with a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude essential
· Ability to effectively manage workload and work to deadlines
· High level of computer literacy and exceptional communication skills are essential for this role
