Job title: Winery Assistant.
Location: Hambledon, Hampshire.
Reporting to: Winemaker and Assistant Winemaker.
Working with: Winery Assistant, Cellar team, Agency workers.
Hours: Monday to Friday (8 hours/day) with paid overtime at harvest and botting.
The Winery Assistant is the directly responsible for the day to day running of the winery. Overseeing the whole process from grape to bottle. Working with the winemakers to continuously maintain and improve the quality of wine produced. This is great opportunity to learn and develop within a growing business.
Duties and responsibilities:
· Assist the winemakers in production of both Hambledon and contact customer wines.
· Assist with all winery operations including fruit receival/processing, ferments, lab analysis, barrel work, blending, stabilisation and filtration.
· Maintaining high levels of cleanliness and sanitation as well as health and safety standards at all times.
· Represent the winery at public and trade tours, tastings and events if required.
· Assist post production team in riddling, disgorging and labelling.
Education and experience:
· 1 year+ winery experience and/or wine production qualification, beneficial but not essential.
· Self-motivated and well organised
· Forklift licence, beneficial but not essential.
Successful candidates:
· Ability to work well in a small team.
· Understand the importance of winery/cellar hygiene and tidiness.
· The understanding that shifts could last up to 12 hours during harvest and bottling, with some weekend work.
· Willingness to learn on the job.
· Ability to lift 25kg
· The right to work in England (we cannot sponsor any Visa)
Salary: £24,000 - £26,000, plus flat rate overtime. Depending on experience.
