Retail Sale Manager for dynamic Cotswold Vineyard and Winery
Woodchester Valley Vineyard are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking, experienced Retail Manager to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in the rapidly growing English wine industry. The role is to take overall responsibility for our retail sales, which includes sales through our tasting room, Cellar Door shop, our website and our wine club, working with our existing staff. The right candidate will have a background in hospitality and practical experience of running a retail outlet and have a passion for all things wine. Relevant experience in the wine industry, WSET qualifications or equivalent will be required.
Who We Are
Established in 2007, Woodchester Valley is a family run English vineyard and winery. Currently one of the largest vineyards in the South West with an annual production of over 100,000 bottles, growing year on year, we are located in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with our main base in South Woodchester. We focus on making quality still and sparkling wines, from grapes all grown on site and made in our winery. We have won multiple awards for our wines, including a ground breaking Master medal for our Sauvignon Blanc in the Global Sauvignon Blanc Masters in 2023. We have our own retail shop, we run a busy schedule of tours and events year-round and we have a range of guest suites and self-catering accommodation on site. After an extremely busy few years, we are now looking to grow our retail sales in line with our production growth.
The role and key responsibilities
Woodchester Valley hold year-round tours and tastings at our vineyard and winery. We have established a reputation for excellent customer service and a qualified, professional but friendly approach to our tours. We also have a busy Cellar Door Shop on the A46 between Stroud and Nailsworth and a growing online business
In brief, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
· driving retail revenues in our Cellar Door Shop and Tasting Room and through our website by maximising sales opportunities;
· encouraging customer loyalty and management of our wine club;
· overseeing staff management and training;
· reporting to management on performance;
· promoting excellent customer service and team spirit;
· conducting Wine Tours and Tastings along with existing sales staff;

Skills required:-
· hands on experience of running a retail outlet (preferably in the wine industry);
· confident and willing to present to a group of visitors
· experience of POS systems and back end of website
· hard working can-do attitude
· excellent organisational skills
· enthusiasm, adaptability, independence, confidence, team player
· relevant industry experience, WSET qualifications (or equivalent) and a passion for wine·
Hours
The role is full time. Location at the Vineyard and Winery based in South Woodchester.
Expected hours: 40 hours per week.
Schedule: Monday to Friday (some weekends required for which time off in lieu is given)
