Bluestone is a boutique vineyard on the McConnell family farm in Wiltshire, established and run by brothers, Toby and Nat, specialising in traditional method English Sparkling Wine.

This is an ideal role for someone looking to begin a career in the wine industry, as well as those who are looking for new opportunities within the industry.

JOB TITLE: Tour & Tasting Guide / Host
NUMBER OF ROLES OPEN: 1-2
DEPARTMENT: Sales
TENURE: Part time, potential for full time, fixed & seasonal options available

REPORTING TO: Sales Manager/ CEO
START DATE: April, (flexible given the likelihood of notice period needed)

Full training will be provided.

ABOUT US:

The Tasting Room at Bluestone first opened in 2021 where we hosted ad hoc tours, tastings and lunches. Thanks to their popularity, we expanded on this in 2022 and 2023 with tours running every weekend from April - October, and additional offerings such as private events, picnics and a drink-in space.

Going into our 2024 season, we are looking to continue to build this success and we are looking for brilliant new Vineyard Tour & Tasting Guides and Tasting Room Hosts to join our team. Providing the best experience for our guests is our priority, which we are very proud to have reflected in our Google and Tripadvisor reviews.

An introduction to the role:

The primary task of this role is for the candidate to host our tour guests and provide an excellent experience, through informative and relaxed guided tours and tutored wine tastings.

The successful candidate(s) will be expected to be available most weekends during our April - October tour season. As well as ad-hoc tour dates throughout the week and private tours as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Confidently deliver our guided vineyard tour and wine tasting, providing informative and engaging commentary

• Answer questions accurately and provide assistance to tour participants as needed

• Be a brand ambassador for Bluestone. Provide excellent customer service to enhance the overall tour experience

• Maintain a professional and friendly demeanour while interacting with our guests

• Responsible for driving post-tour wine sales to tour guests as well as actively identifying opportunities to increase revenue

• Adhere to established tour schedules and itineraries

• Ensure the safety and well-being of our guests throughout the duration of the tour

• Conduct pre-tour preparations, assist with the set up and clear down

• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the Tasting Room and other Bluestone areas

• Prepare and serve drinks. Assist with post tour lunch service

• Administration: sales reports, checking-in guests, use our stock and sales system

EXPERIENCE:

• A genuine interest in wine, specifically English Wine is essential

• Previous experience in a customer facing or sales role is preferred

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information to diverse groups of people

• Excellent public speaking skills, with the ability to engage and captivate an audience

• Ability to handle unexpected situations or changes in itinerary with professionalism and adaptability

QUALIFICATIONS:

• WSET certification or similar (preferred)
