A Wine Advisor is expected to generate sales by providing customer service. Every customer needs to feel welcome. Greeting customers, attending to their needs and building a loyal customer base are some of the duties of a Wine Advisor. You are expected to be aware of any promotional offers and encourage the customer to take advantage of discounts on the products promoted by CWM. You are also expected to be aware of the stock available in the shop and arrange the replenishment of sold merchandise.

 

 

1.     Maximise sales to our customers.

2.     Maintain high retail standards

3.     Learn and follow company procedures.

4.     Communicate ideas, problems, concerns and potential solutions to your manager.

5.     Understand the role and duties of the designated licensed premises supervisor, especially refusal to serve.

6.     Know the Health, Safety, Security and Emergency policies

7.     Conduct stock takes as requested.

8.     Expand your knowledge of and interest in wines, spirits and beers by attending CWM tutored wine tastings.

9.     Attend regular performance reviews with your manager.

 

A Wine Advisor is responsible for maintaining outstanding customer service as per Company standards, generating sales, merchandising, and safeguarding company assets.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining solid product knowledge and all other aspects of customer service
  • Maintain an awareness of all promotions and advertisements
  • Assist in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and housekeeping
  • Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise and monitoring floor stock
  • Aid customers in locating merchandise
  • Communicate customer requests to management
  • Assist in completing price changes
  • Participate in year-end inventory and stock counts
  • dealing with sales as and when required and performing cash and credit handling procedures
  • Any other tasks as assigned from time to time by any manager
  • Maintain a professional appearance

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job
  • Ability to communicate with associates and customers
  • Ability to read, count, and write accurately to complete all relevant documentation

Requirements:

  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, and to move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the shop, which entails lifting, and perform all functions as set forth above
  • Ability to work varied hours/days, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
