In this role
You will be required to provide a pro-active technical service to fulfil regulatory, industry & customer requirements across all aspects of AW’s bulk wine procurement, filling & distribution activities, with emphasis on ensuring compliance to all relevant legislation, code of practice and international standards, and on setting, measuring & continually improving product safety, quality & environmental credentials across the supply chain. You must continuously challenge, innovate and improve the department performance through the development of a Lean Culture and operational philosophy.

Key tasks will include
- Act as a primary contact with external regulatory agencies, trade associations and technical colleagues to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of all national & international legislative and code of practice factors impinging on products sold by AW
- Ensure compliance of all products sold by AW to all relevant regulatory requirements relating to their safety, origin, composition, quality, packaging, and presentation
- Ensure UK packaging site compliance to recognised industry and customer food safety, quality, and environmental standards (e.g. BRC, ISO 9000 & ISO 14001)
- Pursue regular benchmarking against comparable UK and worldwide operations.
- Ensure that all global risk reports and policies in relation to quality are relevant and functional. Working in conjunction with environmental and safety depts. to ensure a standard approach to risk management
- Co-ordinate an ongoing participative training programme for site personnel to promote ‘Best Practice’ principles for wine handling and packaging, including an ‘ownership’ approach to all aspects of Quality
- Enforce product and operational standards for suppliers, transporters of bulk & packaged wine and suppliers of packaging materials using a combination of AW Codes of Practice, supplier self assessments, product specifications, supplier certificates of analysis and in-house product analysis backed up with a controlled non-conformance system
- Co-ordinate an ongoing programme of audits of key suppliers of bulk and packaged wine and packaging materials.

Ideally you will have this experience..
- 3-5 years experience of food or beverage manufacture/packaging operations in a technical or production role.
- BRC experience

- Bachelors Degree - Qualified in Science or Engineering
- Diploma - completed
