We are currently recruiting for a Head Chef to join our hotel who will report directly to the Executive Chef, on a full time, permanent contract, working 45 hours per week, 5 out of 7 days, as a 365 day business you may be required to work evenings/weekends/bank holidays.

We are looking for a Head Chef, who is dedicated, hardworking, polite with strong leadership skills and an individual who possesses excellent communication skills with strong spoken and written English skills. 

Summary of role: 
To effectively manage the overall food offering, from menu planning & costing to ordering, food preparation & service.
To train and develop a small team to ensure the standards are achieved at all times and that procedures are followed to operate a successful kitchen within the food hygiene regulations and within the unit budget.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
1. To plan, cost & produce suitable menu’s for the Hotel’s needs.
2. To ensure rotas are effective & efficient and within budgeted payroll costs.
3. To be responsible for achieving the food cost of sales budget.
4. To order all food items, control security, and minimise any wastage.
5. To conduct competitor price comparisons on food and food items as required.
6. To order non-food items as required i.e. crockery, utensils & equipment.
7. To oversee the cleaning rota for the kitchen and ensure that the standards are met and maintained at all times.
8. To order all cleaning products efficiently and cost effectively.
9. To carry out reports and duties as required by the General Manager/ Executive chef.
10. To work closely with the front of house team to ensure they are knowledgeable about all food served and are able to recommend food items to customers. To discuss operational ideas, customer feedback and constantly look at ways to improve the food offering & service.
11. To work with Executive Chef at the hotel with menu suggestions, changes & ideas and regarding staffing support.
12. To ensure daily and weekly checklists are used and completed and all time sheets are recorded properly and on time.
13. To ensure all food areas of the kitchen are neat, clean and tidy at all times.
14. To report to the Property Services and maintenance issues or Health & Safety issues.
15. To deal with any complaints or incidents in a professional and effective manner.
16. To abide by Health and Safety Regulations as required by Law

In order to be successful in this role as a Head Chef, you will need to have worked as a Head chef in a 5 star and Michelin star property. Must speak fluent English. Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card, as required by local law.
